Shooting at a school in Canada leaves 10 dead and 25 injured.

Another 25 people were injured. Prime Minister Mark Carney expressed his shock at the "terrible shooting" and canceled a planned trip to Europe.

Ten people died, including a suspected shooter, in an attack on Tuesday at a high school in a small town in the northeastern Canadian province of BC, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced.

According to Ken Floyd, RCMP district superintendent, seven people were found dead inside Tumbler Ridge High School, including the suspected shooter, and one died en route to the hospital. Two other people were found dead in a residence, he added in a virtual interview with the media.

Another 25 people were injured, none in life-threatening condition, according to an RCMP statement.

Police "ended the emergency alert in Tumbler Ridge," considering there were "no suspects on the run or threats to the public," provincial authorities reported.

According to initial police statements, the first alert received early Tuesday afternoon concerned an active shooter at Tumbler Ridge High School.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered, while searching the premises, seven people who had been shot dead, including the suspected shooter.

An eighth person wounded by gunfire at the school died during transport to the hospital.

Subsequently, police “identified a second location, presumably related to the incident, where two more victims were found dead in a residence,” according to a statement.
