Some people are dead and others are missing after an explosion at a military explosives company in Tennessee, according to local authorities.
"We have some people, we can confirm there are some who are deceased," Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said at a press conference on Friday.
The company, Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC, is located about an hour southwest of Nashville, Tennessee, on the Hickman and Humphreys County line, the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office told CNN.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene and are working to assess and contain the fire, but are currently holding back in the immediate area due to concerns about secondary explosions.
Residents living near the facility say they felt the impact of the explosion.
"I thought the house collapsed with me inside," Gentry Stover told The Associated Press by phone. "I live right next to Accurate and realized within about 30 seconds of waking up that this had to be it."
Accurate Energetic Systems, LLC, specializes in manufacturing military explosives, according to the Humphreys County Sheriff's Office.
The company's Facebook page says it manufactures "various high-explosive compounds and specialty products for the U.S. Department of Defense and Industrial markets."
The Hickman County Sheriff's Office is asking everyone to avoid the area while emergency crews respond.
According to the BBC, there are at least 19 people missing (presumed dead).
