Monday, May 4: Secret Service confirms exchange of gunfire with armed suspect near the White House
“U.S. Secret Service personnel are on the scene of a shooting involving an agent at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. An individual was shot by authorities; his condition is currently unknown,” the USSS said in a statement quoted by Reuters.
The exchange of gunfire occurred shortly before Vice President James D. Vance's motorcade passed through the area.
