Moroccan authorities stopped a new attempt by hundreds of sub-Saharan migrants to reach the border with Ceuta on Saturday, August 15, following social media calls for a mass entry into the Spanish enclave.
According to information cited by the EFE news agency, Moroccan forces intercepted 111 migrants—mostly from sub-Saharan Africa—while recent preventive operations led to the arrest of 61 people accused of encouraging illegal migration.
Groups began approaching the El Tarajal area around six in the morning, but Moroccan authorities deployed a strong security operation and prevented them from reaching the border. Security forces reportedly used tear gas, and dozens of migrants were detained, forced onto buses, and transported to other regions of Morocco, such as Ouarzazate, hundreds of kilometers away in the south.

The question remains: did they stop everyone? Or did some thousands manage to get through?
