Tomorrow, Trump will be in Davos, in eastern Switzerland, for another meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). However, this one will be different.
The annual gathering of political and business elites takes place at a time when Europe is facing its greatest challenge ever in terms of its relationship with Washington, its economic model, and its security architecture.
The US president recently threatened to impose tariffs on NATO’s European allies if they do not support his attempt to wrest control of Greenland from Denmark. In recent days, European troops have been deployed to Greenland in response to this threat.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will also be present in Davos, hopes to meet with Trump to sign new security guarantees for a potential ceasefire agreement with Russia. G7 leaders also intend to discuss the issue of Ukraine.
