31/Atlas is not a spaceship - part 2

I am writing this post to emphasize that there is absolutely nothing unusual about comet 3I/ATLAS. It is, by no means, a spaceship.

What has been circulating on social media is nothing more than disinformation and sensationalism.

PSY OPS

Many social media accounts are managed by intelligence agencies — the CIA, for instance, has been known for decades to spread false news as part of psychological operations. The goal is simple: to test how the public reacts to information manipulation while, at the same time, diverting mass attention away from topics that could generate controversy or dissent.

Memetic War

The circulation of memes about 31/Atlas on social media functions as a means of misinformation, emotional destabilization and distraction, while also aiming to generate clicks and attention (clickbait).

The “Useful Idiots”

Thousands of YouTubers, bloggers, and webmasters are riding the wave by sharing fake images of the comet — almost always produced with artificial intelligence — insinuating that it is a “mothership.”

This kind of content spreads panic among the most impressionable, but the truth is that “fear sells.”

These content creators profit from clicks, views, ads, and banners, even when they know perfectly well that they are spreading falsehoods.

Personally, I see this behavior as a profound lack of respect for readers. I would never publish sensationalist garbage just to generate traffic. Using fear as “clickbait” to earn a few bucks is not only unethical but degrading.

When the dust settles

I sincerely hope that in December, when the comet has already left our solar system and no “spaceship” has been observed, all those webmasters and “keyboard ufologists” fall into ridicule.

And more importantly: that readers do not forget which sites and blogs were responsible for spreading such lies.

Additional notes

Israeli astronomer Avi Loeb has defended the hypothesis that interstellar objects could be extraterrestrial probes. However, the overwhelming majority of the scientific community disagrees.

Comet 3I/ATLAS is not an extraterrestrial spacecraft.

The same story about "comets" being "spaceships" repeats itself decade after decade. The same thing happened with Comet Hale Bopp in 1997 and ELENIN in 2010.

Neither the James Webb Space Telescope nor ground-based radio observatories have detected any message or signal coming from 3I/ATLAS.

The famous image of a “tube of colorful lights” is nothing more than a long-exposure photograph combined with multiple light spectra — a common technique in astrophotography.

All the other images circulating online are fake and AI-generated.
