A Delta Airlines flight had to return to Los Angeles Airport shortly after takeoff this Friday (18) after one of the aircraft's engines caught fire during climb.
The incident occurred with a Boeing 767-400 bound for Atlanta.
Images captured show fire emanating from the plane's left engine as it gained altitude over Los Angeles.
After identifying the problem, the pilot maneuvered to return to the airport, where the aircraft landed safely on the runway.
A Delta spokesperson said Flight 446 returned "shortly after takeoff following an indication of a problem with the aircraft's left engine."
There were no reported injuries among passengers or crew.
Local authorities and the airline are investigating the cause of the incident to ensure the safety of future flights.
