This week there were two incidents, between Tuesday and Thursday, when Portuguese F-16 fighter jets (which are based in Monte Real) escorted Russian Tupolev-95 military aircraft out of the airspace, at the request of the NATO command. Link here.
SIC's channel journalist and commentator, Nuno Rogeiro, pointed out that: The Russian aircraft never entered Portuguese airspace, they were in international airspace, but close to our airspace, less than 12 miles away, and the role of our F-16 fighter jets is to prevent them from entering our airspace.
He also pointed out that the Russians are "testing" our response time and, at the same time, are demonstrating their military power.
The Russians have carried out several operations with several aircraft at the same time, which is considered an unusual move.
Portuguese F-16 fighter jets have also participated in missions in the Baltic Sea.

Quem quer a Paz tem de preparar-se para a Guerra, as Nações do Ocidente andam a empurrar responsabilidades uns para os outros e o resultado está à vista.... A expansão da Rússia já não é apenas um problema localizado no leste da Ucrânia, é também um problema para a Europa, do Leste e do Ocidente, como se vê com as 2 incursões de Bombardeiros Russos com capacidade nuclear ao largoa da costa de Portugal..
